Key’s DVD locked over ‘clocks’ issue

A scheduled gathering of the media in Auckland this afternoon to meet National Party leader John Key to view his DVD ‘Ambitious for New Zealand’ has been cancelled reportedly owing to copyright concerns.

Interestingly the National Party channel on YouTube was hosting the DVD until 11.45 AM this afternoon when it was pulled off. The DVD ever since the launch ran into rough weather over allegations that it’s background music matched closely to Coldplay’s ‘clocks’ and that it breached copyrights. The DVD was watched by 10,071 viewers.

John Key’s Press Secretary Kevin Taylor would not be drawn into making any comment until further notice. ‘We will make it clear later in the day’ he answered when asked to confirm whether it was the copyright issues surrounding the DVD.

Meanwhile, hectic preparations are underway to give a makeover to the DVD for National leader John Key to re-launch it before Christmas. Some in the know termed it as ‘unwanted disaster’ implying the makers of the DVD should have done their homework professionally.

The meet was called by National spokeswoman for ACC & Ethnic Affairs, Associate spokeswoman for Immigration and Education (International Education) Pansy Wong MP. Pansy regretted the cancellation of the meet and merely expressed optimism that in the immediate future the meeting would take place. Asked to cite the reasons for cancellation
she said the party would come out with a statement during the course of the day.

The production company which produced the DVD was not ready to make any comment.
