Telling stats. Doesn’t fit the agenda of our right wing commenters though – they will be upset with this truth.

    You forget 9/11…

[lprent: I suggest you read the post title closely. It may answer you. FFS use your eyes rather than your stupidity and don’t waste my time. ]

    • Whispering Kate 2.1

In retaliation Gael how many innocent civilians have been killed in Iraq, Afghanistan etc and by drone strikes since then – many hundreds of thousands more than 9/11. One has to get things in perspective, 9/11 was unforgivable but so was collateral damage done at that time and is still going on.

And, by the way I believe the pilots of the plane which went into the Twin Towers etc were from Saudi Arabia, so called friends of the US. Posters here can correct me if I am wrong.

      • Tamati Tautuhi 2.1.1

Most of the narrative I have read lately about 9/11 supported by former pilots is that 9/11 was an inside job and a controlled demolition, no planes actually hit the buildings or the Pentagon, evidently that was a missile?

        • Rosemary McDonald 2.1.1.1

Be careful there Tamati Tautuhi, you’ll be branded as a conspiracy theorist!

I am one of those who was watching live, and never though for a single minute that buildings 1,2 and 7 were not brought down by some kind of controlled demolition. The whole thing screamed false flag then as it does still.

Watched this over the past few days…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fvJ8nFa5Qk about the Pentagon bombing. Not for those with short attention spans.

    • weka 2.2

9/11 is in the title of the post.

    • Galeandra 2.3

Gael, the headline & table says ” (annually) SINCE 9/11…” so what is your point?

BTW have a look at Gordon Campbell’s current post on the subject of the ban on muslims.
      http://gordoncampbell.scoop.co.nz/2017/01/30/gordon-campbell-on-nzs-silence-over-trumps-agenda/#more-4754

“As many have noted, the selective list of countries being targeted by Trump – ostensibly on security grounds – comprise seven countries that have not carried out any terrorist attacks at all on the US mainland in the past two decades. Conveniently, they are also countries in which Trump and his family have no business interests. Conversely, the list happens to omit the very countries whose citizens have killed thousands of Americans in terrorist attacks over the same period, but are countries in which Trump and his family do have business interests. ”

No doubt he succinctly expresses the subsequent issues around the event that you are concerned about.

    • Macro 2.4

Gael et al Here are the official stats year by year including the 9/11.
As you can see, to include the 9/11 figures would essentially distort the true picture. These figures are for all Americans killed by terrorist attacks including those killed outside of the US but excluding war zones. Between 2004 and 2013 there are more Americans killed outside of the US than in – 44 out of a total 80. So this ban really is meaningless ad as McCain quite rightly points out will increase the risk for Americans traveling abroad.

      • Poission 2.4.1

As there are similarities .There have been more americans killed on US soil by radicalized islamists, then killed by the Japanese on US soil following Pearl harbour.

        • Macro 2.4.1.1

Perhaps you might like to take that up with the authors of the report.

“As you can see, to include the 9/11 figures would essentially distort the true picture. ”

      No excluding them distorts it.

It’s like me putting up figures of deaths in mines since pike river and saying pike river distorts the figures.

But trumps an is not about the past – it’s about protecting their future.

      • Macro 6.1.1

        🙄
Clearly you have little to no understanding of statistical analysis.
Including an outlier of such magnitude (2902) completely distorts the remaining 59 deaths from terrorist attacks on American soil from 9/11/2001 through to
12/31/2014. The security measures instituted since that attack make it far less likely to be repeated (or haven’t you traveled by air in recent years?)
If one was to ask what was the likelihood of a US citizen being killed in a Terrorist attack in the US this year, the probability would be negligible, even if one included the 9/11 attacks.

  7. Pat 7

obviously Trump should ban beds and enforce futons on the floor……it could revive the cotton industry in the south and make the US great again.

  8. Pat 8

obviously Trump should ban beds and enforce futons on the floor…it could revive the cotton industry in the south and make America grate again.

    • Henry Filth 8.1

The US has a very large cotton industry in the south. It is, after all, where they grow the stuff.

What the US no longer has is a cotton-processing (textile) industry. It started in the north, moved to the south, then vanished off shore.

excellent commentary here on Chaos being created in order to destroy it all,

    http://www.salon.com/2017/01/30/trumps-rasputin-seizes-the-moment-a-week-of-chaos-may-suit-steve-bannons-master-plan/

    last paragraph,

Quote: ” You can see this perfectly manifested in the first week’s orders on (nonexistent) voter fraud, immigration and deportation policies. The ban on Muslims from certain countries has particular national security implications, in that experts believe it will be a splendid propaganda tool for ISIS and will drive a wedge between the U.S. and many of its allies, which fits perfectly with Bannon’s general “blow it up” philosophy. As Bannon said last summer, Trump is just a “blunt instrument” and at this point it doesn’t matter if he “gets it” or not. In his new role as Trump’s Rasputin, Steve Bannon is now in a position to literally make his dreams of destruction come true.” Quote End

for those that were against same old same old, but rather wanted to burn down the house and start from scratch. Make sure that before you light the match you have left the building.

  11. Ross 11

Who knew that getting out of bed was so dangerous!

  12. HDCAFriendlyTroll 12

So if I’ve been paying insurance on my house for the last 20 years and haven’t been burgled or had my house go up in flames I should stop paying insurance?

    • KJT 12.1

No. You should ban toddlers and US American citizens from your house!

BTW. The chances of your house burning down is orders of magnitude greater, than that of an American being killed by a terrorist.
